Virtual Fieldtrip: Washington D.C.
Inspired after reading The Wall by Eve Bunting, we downloaded Google Earth onto the laptops and went on a virtual class fieldtrip! First, we had to explore our neighborhood (find our houses and our school). Squeals of "that's my house!" were heard across the room!
From there, we transported ourselves to Washington D.C. and visited several of the war memorials commemorating the service of veterans. We visited the Vietnam War Memorial, Women in Vietnam Memorial, World War II Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. There is still much to see and do! After our trip, the next day, we introduced Google Slides, a presentation software, and are making our first presentation. The class catches on very quick - no one had worked with the program before. You can see their work in their student google accounts. Ask them to show you! The more we use the program, the more involved our presentations will become! |
